Näköradio

This short movie was an intro for a snowboarding movie called Näköradio.
I shot this in 2005 with an old 8mm film camera Sankyo es66-xl and a 3 rolls of Kodachrome 40 film. I didn’t have the money to do a digital scan so I shot this to camcorder from projector. Maybe I will do another version in the future with proper scanned original…

This version is a re-cut because I couldn’t use the original song anymore.

I want to give a huge thanks to all who was a part of this project!

PS. Näköradio is an old finnish word for television.

Vinylapse – a timelapse test with Canon G9

I bought my Canon powershot G9 about 2 years ago when I was in Vancouver and I have to say I really like this little camera! It’s small enough to fit in to (quite a big) pocket and still have some powerful features!

I’ve always been thinking that it’s missing 2 things what I would like to have…one is internal intervalometer and other one is HD quality video mode. Well I believe there’s not going to be HD video mode but I found out that there’s a firmware hack for G9. This hack adds intervalometer and many other features to G9. It’s a bit geeky to use the camera with this firmware hack but that’s not a big deal.

I was inspired to do this vinyl/turntable timelapse because G9 is so small that I was able to have it on turntable while it’s playing and it also has a macro mode so it was also possible to focus to vinyl.

I hope you enjoy the short movie!

I added also a couple of “behind the scenes” -shots…

DIY slider

Here’s just a photo about my “Igus slider”. This kind of slider is very popular DIY style slider because it’s quite cheap and really easy to do. Slider can be used with tripod or with some kind of legs. For the legs I found some parts from old kitchen cabinets. I screwed some holes and just painted those black.

Canon5Dtips.com has a good post about Igus slider. There’s info about what it is, how to do it etc.

I got to say it’s really not easy to use this slider and it needs a lot of practice to use it properly. Good ol’ rubber band trick works with slider too!

Last thing is that I’m going to do some test shoots in the near future because I’m eager to know how this slider works in cold weather..right now it’s about -1° C here.

Nimis | Ladonia

A short movie from Nimis | Ladonia.

Quote from Wikipedia “Nimis is a series of wooden sculptures situated along the coast in the Kullaberg Nature Reserve, Höganäs Municipality, in the northern part of Skåne County, Sweden. They are a massive, wooden labyrinthine structure connected by several wooden towers, and are said to be mostly constructed from driftwood.”
